Your messages are encrypted in the app and only decrypted inside hardware-isolated secure enclaves: the backend runs in AWS Nitro Enclaves and the models run on confidential-computing GPUs. Before any data moves, the app checks a signed attestation that proves which code is running, and because that code is open source with reproducible builds, anyone can rebuild it and compare the result. Your chats are stored as encrypted data tied to your account and are never used to train models.

If you want a capable assistant for that kind of material without handing a readable copy to an AI company, this is the easiest way to get one.
People who work with confidential material get the most out of it, like lawyers reviewing contracts, accountants working through client numbers, and journalists processing interview notes. We found no compliance certifications such as HIPAA or SOC 2 in Maple's published material, so check your own obligations before putting regulated data in.
Bitcoiners and builders get two extras. You can open an account without an email address and pay in bitcoin, and Pro and higher plans include an OpenAI-compatible API through Maple Proxy, so tools like OpenClaw, Goose and OpenCode can run on private models. Small teams can pool credits and manage seats from one account.

Maple only runs open-weight models, so GPT, Claude and Gemini aren't available, and the top closed models can still pull ahead on the hardest tasks. The privacy promise depends on trusting enclave hardware from AWS and the GPU confidential-computing providers Maple uses, web searches go out to Brave's search API, and Maple still sees account details like your email, payment info and IP address. Paid usage is credit-based and loosely described beyond the free tier's weekly message cap. Bitcoin payment is annual only, isn't offered for Team plans or inside the iOS app, and payments are non-refundable. File uploads need a paid plan and one of the apps, and the memory-driven Maple Agent is still in private beta.
